We recycle

We have been protecting the environment for many years. Last year was no exception. We managed to increase the amount of recycled plastic by more than half compared with the previous year, reaching a record total of over 3,000,000 kg of plastic waste.

As a result, plastics do not end up unnecessarily in landfill sites or incinerators, but are used in the manufacture of our products from the Fortelock Industry, XL and Invisible ranges. Tiles made from recycled material are technically sophisticated and patented products that renovate floors without the need for demolition. You will find them under the ECO label in a range of colours, and they are competitively priced.

Benefits for nature and customers

We are pleased that our production helps to protect the natural environment, thereby preserving it for future generations. By recycling 3,000,000 kg of plastic, we also save 5,496,000 kg of CO₂, which is equivalent to the emissions of around 1,000 cars*, and on top of that we save 725,000,000 litres of water**.

Our customers also play their part in protecting the environment alongside us . Choosing Fortelock instead of demolishing the existing concrete and pouring new concrete means no demolition, no production of new concrete and no skip full of construction rubble – and up to 80 per cent lower CO₂ emissions associated with production and installation, whilst maintaining a floor that looks just as great. And when a Fortelock tile reaches the end of its life? It won’t end up in a landfill. It goes back into our crushers, where it is turned into a brand-new tile. We do the same with all production rejects.

*Calculated based on emissions of 2.1 kg CO₂ eq./kg of primary plastic saved, after deducting recycling and processing emissions of 0.268 kg CO₂ eq./kg

**Calculated based on the amount of water consumed in the production of 242 l of virgin plastic per 1 kg, after deducting the water consumed in our own recycling and processing process (3 l/kg)

We do not overlook the importance of nature

Not only do we talk about the circular economy – we are literally built on it. Our factory (just like our brand-new offices) is built using reused structures and materials, both inside and out.
