Fortega Flex34

Lightweight plastic roofing tiles for a classic Czech-style roof

Fortega Flex 34 (based on the tried-and-tested Ekoternit EB1 tile) is a lightweight, flexible and durable roofing material measuring 340 × 340 mm, made from recycled PVC. Its shape follows traditional Czech roofing templates and is suitable for both new builds and as a modern replacement for old asbestos cement or bitumen roofs. It resembles slate in appearance, but unlike slate, it does not unnecessarily weigh down the roof, does not crack and requires minimal maintenance.

Lightness and a traditional look, all in one

Low roof structure load: Fortega Flex34 is ideal wherever you need to reduce the load on the roof structure. Dimensions of 340 × 340 mm, a weight of 0.77 kg per tile and a consumption of 13 tiles per square metre result in a surface weight of approximately 10 kg/m² – significantly less than that of traditional clay or concrete tiles, which typically range from 45 to 70 kg/m².

Traditional appearance: This roofing material is suitable for detached houses, cottages, holiday homes, pergolas and smaller commercial buildings. As its shape mimics traditional slate-style tiles, it is also ideal for renovation projects where the roof needs to retain its original appearance whilst offering modern performance and being asbestos-free.

Key benefits of the Fortega Flex34

Lightweight and durable for older roof structures

Weighing approximately 10 kg/m², it puts less strain on the roof structure and often allows for renovation without the need for reinforcement – ideal for older houses and extensions. The material is resistant to heat, frost and UV radiation, ensuring a long service life.

The traditional look of a Czech template

It draws on Czech tradition – the same shape and rhythm, but made from modern plastic. Ideal for situations where you want to preserve the character of the buildings or replace old mouldings without altering the appearance.

Quiet and comfortable in terms of temperature

Better sound insulation than sheet metal (quieter in rain and hail) and good thermal insulation properties – less overheating and a more stable indoor climate.

22-year warranty and a service life of up to 50 years

We offer a 22-year warranty on the roofing, and its lifespan is 50+ years.

How to install Fortega Flex34 roofing tiles correctly

Fortega Flex34 (based on the tried-and-tested Ekoternit EB1 template) is installed on full-surface roof boarding (boards, OSB, etc.), supplemented with a vapour barrier or other suitable under-roof insulation. The minimum recommended roof pitch is 25°.

The templates are secured at three points – using two nails (copper nails of approx. 40 mm are recommended) and one 25 × 27 mm wind clip in the pre-drilled holes. An expansion gap must be left between the individual templates, and the nails must not be hammered in too tightly, so that the roofing material can expand and contract without deformation.

The tiles are laid in horizontal rows from the eaves to the ridge. Details (eaves, ridge, corners, valleys, penetrations) are dealt with using standard roofing methods – for valleys, a sheet metal solution is usually employed, into which the tiles are precisely cut to fit.

A quick comparison of options

A comparison of Fortega Flex34 with standard roofing materials

When choosing roofing materials, people most often compare metal sheets, tiles, shingles and fibre cement. Whilst metal sheets are lightweight, they are noisy and prone to corrosion or overheating, whereas Fortega Neo offers better sound insulation and thermal comfort. Tiles are significantly heavier and place a greater load on the roof structure, whereas Fortega Neo is lightweight, easy to handle and does not crack. Compared to shingles and fibre cement, it stands out for its longer lifespan, greater durability and quicker installation. Below you will find a table comparing the basic properties of our roofing materials with those of our competitors.

How to check whether Fortega Flex34 is suitable for your roof

To help you make a decision, you can use:

  • a non-binding estimate of costs (number of templates, add-ons and total price),
  • delivery a free sample,
  • or a simple visualisation of the colour scheme on a photograph of your roof,
  • consult a technician or designer regarding the possibility of installing the flooring on the existing structure.
