The production of Fortelock tiles from A to Z
Are you curious how Fortelock flooring — which you may already have in your garage or workplace — is made? All production takes place exclusively in the Czech Republic, at the headquarters of Fortemix s. r. o. in Paskov.
The tiles are made from plastic granulate, which changes from a solid to a liquid state after heat treatment. At a temperature of 180 C° the compound is fed by an injection machine into the mould, where it takes the shape of a tile. Once the tile has been formed, the product is cooled so that it can be removed from the mould by an automatic manipulator and placed on a conveyor belt to cool completely.
Properties of the PVC material
The PVC material from which the tiles are made is chemically resistant to acids, salts, alkalis, fats and alcohols. Thanks to the high-quality material and careful manufacturing, the floor is durable and safe for a wide range of production plants, buildings and warehouses, as well as homes, offices and school premises.
Ecology
Fortelock flooring is 100 % recyclable. Production generates a minimum of waste and emissions. 50 % of tile production comes from recycled production rejects, which are crushed in our own crushers, and from purchased waste. Thanks to our own recycling, defective products never leave the factory and are soon back in the production process.

Production in Paskov is handled by Fortemix Production, s.r.o. The tiles are made on energy-efficient injection moulding machines in homogeneous or heterogeneous versions. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, and the tiles are assessed in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 and the EN 14041 standard. Recycling continues even after the floor reaches the end of its service life: under its take-back programme, Fortemix accepts all types of Fortelock tiles regardless of wear, including lacquered ones, and ensures that they are recycled. Where are Fortelock tiles made?
In the Czech Republic, in Paskov, at Kirilovova 812. The manufacturer is Fortemix, s.r.o., a Czech family company with a tradition of more than thirty years; production itself is handled by Fortemix Production, s.r.o. Under the Fortelock, Tereco and Fortega brands, the Fortemix group manufactures flooring, decking and roofing materials.
What technology is used to make Fortelock PVC tiles?
Injection moulding. The molten PVC compound is injected into a mould, where it takes the shape of a tile, and after cooling it is removed from the mould by an automatic manipulator. The tiles are made in homogeneous or heterogeneous versions, and because of this technology they may show visible injection marks.
What are ECO Classic tiles made from?
From 98% recycled PVC, specifically from recycled electrical cables. The Fortemix group recycles plastic waste and uses it to make new products. ECO products are registered in the European SCIP database.
How can I tell a genuine Fortelock tile?
By the logo on the underside of the tile. The back also shows the date of manufacture, which is useful, for example, when making a claim. The logo also makes orientation easier when laying the Industry and XL ranges, where each subsequent tile is rotated by 90°.
Can worn Fortelock tiles be returned to the manufacturer for recycling?
Yes, you can return them to the manufacturer. Under its take-back programme, Fortemix accepts all types of Fortelock tiles regardless of wear and ensures they are recycled and reused. It also accepts lacquered tiles, but it will not accept consignments of other brands or other PVC.
