A garage for vintage cars
Today we have for you a project featuring Fortelock PVC tiles installed by our customer from Switzerland. It involved 150 m2 laid with Fortelock Industry Graphite tiles. His experience can be an inspiration if you are still deciding on your floor, or a source of new information.
In two minutes you will learn:
- What problems the customer had with his original epoxy floor
- How he rated the technical parameters of the tiles
- How the installation went
The need for a new floor and its selection
The repeated, unavoidable renovation of the old concrete floor with an epoxy coating prompted the customer to consider another type of flooring for heavy loads. The biggest problems with the original floor were surface crumbling, tyres eating into the surface, difficult maintenance and dust.
A poured floor was no longer an option at this point. That is why our customer looked for another type of floor that would be resistant to heavy loads and easy to clean. As he put it himself: „…the floor has to withstand something.“ The option of DIY installation also played a role in the choice.
Reasons for choosing Fortelock
The customer had not previously known a type of tile like Fortelock, so he began to take a closer interest: „..they wrote that it withstands heavy loads and that it is durable. I also liked the colours. In the end I was won over by how easy it is to install, even for a layman.“
Further requirements for the floor
Since this is a large garage where cars are displayed, parameters such as slip resistance, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability were also important: „… the floor is in a garage that is mostly dark, so the criterion of light-fastness did not really interest us. We cared a lot about dimensional stability, though, so that the floor would not shift apart under the weight of the cars.“ Another key requirement was that no marks from tyres should appear on the floor, or that they could be cleaned off.
Ecology
When choosing the floor, the client was not interested in ecological aspects, but he added afterwards: „…if Fortelock is made from recycled or recyclable material, that is excellent news:“
Installation and laying of Fortelock tiles
Laying the new tiles took a little longer than the customer had expected. He adds that this was due to the atypical shape of the room. The tiles had to be cut considerably. Laying the entire 150 m2 area took 2 days. The customer also highlighted the advantage of the flooring, namely that there is no need to glue the tiles. For maintenance he has used an ordinary cleaning product the whole time.
Satisfaction with Fortelock tiles
Fortelock was supplied to the customer by our distributor Thiel Morefloor, whom the customer praised highly. He appreciates the prompt delivery time and the approach. According to the customer, Fortelock PVC tiles meet everything that is promised and declared. He highlights the easy installation, maintenance, attractive colours and, above all, the fact that no imprints remain on the floor even when the vehicles stand there for a long time.
