Experience Day at MH Ondrášek

In October, the Ondrášek mobile hospice in Ostrava held an open day, where the hospice staff presented their daily work, which in most cases they carry out 365 days a year, including weekends. And since we have been financially supporting the hospice for several years now, we gladly accepted the invitation, as we always enjoy meeting everyone who works and helps at Ondrášek.

During the day we learned what people fear most, how care is provided, what the social counselling service can arrange, and how the hospice raises the money it needs to operate. In an experiential format, we were also able to watch demonstrations of their work. In a short sketch, the staff showed how care in the home environment works. We tried repositioning a patient in bed and also opened up many difficult topics. We were able to take part in devising a donation campaign so that the hospice would have enough funds for care, and to try playing the card game Řekni mi, which helps to put one's values and priorities in order and to answer questions.
