Fortega - Tradition (EB2 Strong) - ECO Classic Grey

100% recyclable 100% recyclable
High durability High durability
Quick and easy installation Quick and easy installation

Tradition roofing was developed in response to market demand. Finally, there is a lightweight and affordable plastic roofing material that can be installed over battens.

This is a stronger and lighter roofing that matches the Flex 41 roofing in shape and size. However, its composition differs. Thanks to the DRS system (Dynamic Ribs System – a specially designed rib structure), it does not bend like soft roofing.

The material is a through-colored composite containing additives and a UV stabilizer, which ensure that the roofing material retains its original properties and color even after several years .

Fortega Tradition

A traditional slate-style tile made from a composite containing recycled aluminium from beverage cartons (in collaboration with Tetra Pak). Fortega Tradition builds on the Ekoternit EB2 Strong, but introduces a new generation of material – a lightweight, strong and dimensionally stable composite. It retains the classic look of Czech slate and is suitable for family homes, holiday cottages and lightweight structures.

A material that pushes the boundaries

Fortega Tradition is designed to withstand summer heat, winter frost, UV radiation and heavy rain. The plastic and aluminium composite from Tetra Pak beverage cartons is non-absorbent, corrosion-resistant and does not degrade in the same way as some conventional materials. The roof is not at risk of disintegration, swelling or flaking of the surface layers. Thanks to its format and low weight, you get a significantly lower weight per unit area than with clay or concrete tiles, which is a major advantage for the renovation of older roofs or timber structures with limited load-bearing capacity.

Key benefits of Fortega Tradition

The traditional look of slate

It is based on classic slate patterns and creates a timeless design suitable for both Czech houses and cottages. The ideal alternative to asbestos cement – it retains the look, but is asbestos-free and offers superior properties.

A durable composite made from recycled materials

The combination of plastic and aluminium in Tetra Pak beverage cartons enhances strength, durability and longevity – it’s not just about the environment, but also about the structural benefits.

Extremely light and strong

Approx. 6 kg/m² – one of the lightest options for pitched roofs. The Tradition design ensures sufficient rigidity and dimensional stability.

Quiet and comfortable in terms of temperature

Composite materials are better at dampening noise than sheet metal (less rumbling) and improve the acoustics in the loft. They also help regulate the temperature – retaining heat in winter and preventing overheating in summer → greater comfort and lower costs.

Can be laid on battens

It can also be installed on existing battens (e.g. during asbestos cement renovation); the batten ends will need to be cut to a greater length, and you should expect a higher consumption per square metre.

How to install Fortega Tradition roofing tiles correctly

Fortega Tradition is installed in a similar way to EB 1 templates:

  • laid in rows from the eaves to the ridge,
  • installation on battens or, for specific projects, on full-surface formwork as per the design,
  • fastened with nails (copper/galvanised) and wind clips into pre-drilled holes,
  • leaving an expansion gap between the templates to allow the composite to expand and contract safely,
  • Details (ridge, corner, valley, penetrations, gutter, flashing) are finished using standard plumbing methods.

For simpler gable roofs, an experienced DIY enthusiast can carry out the installation provided they follow the installation instructions; for larger or more complex roofs, it is advisable to engage a roofer with experience in pre-cut roofing sheets and composite materials.

A quick comparison of options

A comparison of Fortega with standard roofing materials

When choosing roofing materials, people most often compare metal sheets, tiles, shingles and fibre cement. Whilst metal sheets are lightweight, they are noisy and prone to corrosion or overheating, whereas Fortega Neo offers better sound insulation and thermal comfort. Tiles are significantly heavier and place a greater load on the roof structure, whereas Fortega Neo is lightweight, easy to handle and does not crack. Compared to shingles and fibre cement, it stands out for its longer lifespan, greater durability and faster installation. Below you will find a table comparing the basic properties of our roofing materials with those of our competitors.

How to make sure that Fortega Tradition is the right choice

To make it easier to decide, the product page may include the following tools:

  • Non-binding consumption estimate– depending on the roof’s area, pitch and shape.
  • Free sample– the option to take the template up onto the roof and check its appearance and rigidity in real-world conditions.
  • A simple visualisation– a colour option for the roof, shown directly on a photograph of your house.
  • Consultation with a technician / designer– particularly when renovating old roof structures, where low weight can be a decisive factor in the overall roof design.
