We Supported the Obědy pro děti Project

As part of the FORTEGRANT charity project, which focuses on helping non-profit organisations, our employees selected – and then, together with the owner of Fortemix, supported – the public benefit organisation Women for women. From the very beginning, the organisation has focused on helping children and their parents in difficult life situations. Its projects and activities work to ensure a dignified life for all children without distinction – so that every child has the chance to spend time with their peers over meals at nursery and school, and has a safe and dignified home, which is key to their healthy physical and mental development, self-confidence and a chance at a successful life.

One of the most significant projects is Obědy pro děti, which ensures that school lunches are available to socially disadvantaged children. In the 2023/24 school year, more than 1 200 schools took part in the project and almost 16 000 pupils were registered. This project was also supported by our company Fortemix.

And what is the actual goal of the project?

The project's partner is always a primary school, which identifies the children in need and applies for support on their behalf. A donation contract is signed with the primary school/school canteen for a specific period, specific children and the required amount. Payments are made continuously from a transparent account, according to the demand in applications from primary schools across the Czech Republic. We are grateful for every pupil who, thanks to donors and teachers, can also have lunch in the school canteen. On average, we cover one school lunch for 35 CZK. That means up to 800 CZK a month in lunches for a single pupil. We target our help where parents meet the project's selection criteria – they care for their children, do not neglect them, cooperate with the school, value the help, and where children have long been unable to attend lunches and, for financial reasons, do not join the others on class trips either. Each child's application is handled individually. After the period ends, the school/school canteen accounts for the donation provided to cover school lunches, and any overpayment is sent back to the transparent account of Obědy pro děti.
