Invisible Installation Video Guide
We have filmed a video guide for you on how to install a floor made of Fortelock Invisible tiles. We are confident that, thanks to the video, the installation will be quick and easy. For more detailed information on the properties, use, installation and warranties, please read the technical data sheet and the installation instructions provided with each product.
How to lay Invisible step by step
Before installation, leave the tiles to acclimatise for at least 48 hours at 18–26 °C in the room where they will be laid. Invisible is laid on a firm, level subfloor, and any carpet must be removed completely. Unlike the ranges with a visible lock, Invisible is laid from left to right and downwards diagonally from a corner, in a chessboard or staggered pattern. The hidden locks are tapped together with a rubber mallet from the corner towards the centre according to the installation plan. Leave a 10 mm expansion gap from walls and other fixed points. Invisible ramps in types A to D are used for transitions to the surrounding floor.
Frequently asked questions
What subfloor does Fortelock Invisible flooring need?
A firm, level one. The technical data sheet allows concrete with a moisture content of up to 3.5%, wooden subfloors with a moisture content of up to 10%, and firmly fixed ceramic tiles with joints of up to 4 mm. With Invisible, carpet must be removed completely, and old plasticised PVC can damage the tiles, so compatibility is tested first.
How many Invisible tiles are needed per m²?
You need 5 tiles of Invisible per m². The size including the lock is 468 × 468 mm, the actual coverage is 453 × 453 mm, the thickness is 6.7 mm and the weight is 1.8 kg. The configurator will calculate the exact quantity based on the room dimensions; it is a good idea to add a reserve for offcuts.
Can an Invisible floor be taken apart and moved?
Yes. According to the manufacturer, a loose-laid Invisible floor can be taken apart or modified at any time, as the tiles are held together only by the locks. This makes it suitable for rented premises and exhibitions too. This option is covered in the article Need a new floor for rented premises or a mobile floor?
Can a Fortelock Invisible floor take the weight of a car?
Yes. According to the technical data sheet, loose-laid Invisible can take vehicles and forklifts with tyres up to 3,500 kg, a pallet truck with PU wheels up to 300 kg and an electric pallet truck up to 700 kg. Once glued or fixed, the load-bearing capacity increases up to 6,600 kg for vehicles with tyres.
Where are Invisible tiles with a hidden lock suitable?
In spaces where the floor should look like a single continuous surface. The manufacturer lists garages and workshops, car repair and tyre workshops, production and storage areas, gyms, shops, showrooms, offices and exhibition stands. The snakeskin texture with a subtle sheen hides minor dirt and scratches.
